The Denon POA-3000 was built when Denon was gaining fame in the 80's and their products were highly regarded. It is a solidly built and magnificent amplifier, and its outer design is stripped to its bare necessities without unnecessary functions, having two large meter readings and a power switch. The Denon POA-3000 power amplifier is among the first series of Denon audio products designed and built in line with the guiding concept of REAL TIME AUDIO TECHNOLOGY, a new term signifying Denon's new approach to reproduction of real music. The POA-3000 is a new Class-A amplifier unit in which the inherently low efficiency associated with Class-A is eliminated by advanced design features involving 20 patents pending. Thus, it is capable of high-output operation without sacrificing the advantage of Class-A mode which includes wider audio band coverage with distortionless amplifying action.

Freedom from crossover distortion and switching distortion is accounted for by Class-A, and high output by the new scheme called "real bias circuit" that successfully endows Class-A with high efficiency. Seven of the 20 pending patents reside in this circuit. Also, ten power transistors with improved characteristics in the upper frequency range are used in 2 parallel rows of 5 transitors each to constitute the power stage. The power stage highlights broader bandwidth, minimized distortion, and excellent linearity particularly in high-out operation with higher frequencies. The power stage is also protected by small-signal transistor to form a cascode emitter-follower drive circuit for none distortion broadband to prevent the high-frequency characteristics from deteriorating due to junction capacitance in power transistors.

Rated at 180W Class-A, the Denon POA-3000 can be matched perfectly with the Denon PRA-2000 preamplifier to produce a beautiful and clear sound that makes music a joy to listen to. Different pitches and instruments of the performance can be discerned easily and the music passage are not muddled up in a cacophony. The Denon POA-3000 is becoming a very rare piece of equipment and it is no doubt a true statement piece for audiophiles.
