Description :
Using decades of accumulated knowledge and experience to build the amplifier, the Gryphon Diablo offers high end performance from a stunning single chassis designed with bold strokes to match its powerful, refined sound. It is a true dual mono design for minimal cross-channel interaction. Diablo's front panel, a combination of the brushed aluminum and black acrylic that have long been part of Gryphon designs. An inset bar of acrylic contains a readout section that tells the user necessary information including the selected input and the volume setting. There are also facilities through a menu function to name inputs, set the startup and maximum volume settings, control the display brightness, and assign a home-theater pass through. The acrylic bar is also a touch-sensitive screen that allows the user to change function, input, or volume with minimal effort. With bottomless source of pure, stable power, the Gryphon Diablo drives any loudspeaker with speed, precision and authority. It is accomplished with a brute of a power supply of a massive Holmgren toroidal transformer. The Diablo’s reasonable size and high power output make impractical the use of class-A-biased output stages. Instead, the Gryphon Diablo is a class-A/B design using Sanken bipolar transistors in its output stage. Everything inside the chassis is neat and clean. The Diablo's dual-mono design uses very little internal wiring; chassis-mounted input/output connectors are standard.

The Gryphon Diablo takes the listener straight to the heart of the music where dynamic variations, the lifeblood of music, convey the ebb and flow of emotion. The Diablo sounds propulsive yet natural, powerful and relaxed. It portrays music as a united piece, as something that naturally and organically develops and decays, without any of the digital glare. It makes complex music passages sound smooth and vibrant, leaving the intended album's detail, rhythm, and timing unharmed, without causing listening fatigue. The soundstage is impressive for not only for its expansiveness, but also its transparency. It casts a huge soundstage that images instruments and singers precisely within that stage, while delineating the fine details of the mix. It has a finely structured and delicate sense of detail right across its considerable bandwidth and that keeps attention as much as the sheer dynamic potential, both great and small. The textural nuances in music are not glossed over but expertly rendered. Singers' inflections are presented unmarred, indicating that the Diablo is capable of capturing the tone and texture that define an artist. Whether it was the subtle differences between drum skins or the varied nature of different cymbals, the Gryphon Diablo is a master at portraying the variances that can occur within a single voice or instrument. Its fine control of relative instrumental levels keeps the music locked in focus, even at low levels, where it is extremely impressive. The Gryphon Diablo is a real product that any audiophile who seeks magic from the audio system should fully explore.
