The newest Nordost cable line is named Heimdall, after the sharp-eyed Aesir watchman of Norse Mythology. The Nordost Heimdall interconnects uses the company's proprietary "Micro Mono-Filament" technology. Each cable uses four "Mono-Filament" extruded silver over oxygen free copper conductors. By reducing the insulation contact with the conductors by more than 80% signals are transferred more efficiently and at extremely high speeds. The benefits are audible with superb detail, stereo imaging and tonal balance. The cables are terminated with WBT NEXTGEN gold plated copper connectors which offer the perfect low mass connection between the cables and the equipment. This cable offers outstanding coherence, detail and imaging. The Nordost Heimdall is the perfect solution for those who demand high performance from their music of home theater system.
During listening test, the Nordost Heimdall cable system is beautifully listenable, and very much in keeping with the qualities that the Nordost Valhallas. The Heimdalls are uncolored, tonally neutral, and does nothing to detract from the qualities in the components. With the Heimdalls, the music system breathes naturally. There are no constrictions, no sense of the music being squeezed out, strained out, or shot out at the listener. The Heimdall system is natural, easy, and wide open. The Heimdall interconnect, in generous lengths and used between preamp and power amps, is the family's biggest bargain. After weeks of switching back and forth between the 6m Valhalla interconnect and the 6m Heimdall, tests show the user can't be reliably sure that he hears more than the most ephemeral difference, if any, between them. In all the areas in which the performance of the long Heimdall interconnects matched that of the long Valhallas, perhaps the most pleasing was the fact that, with these budget cables in place, the user's system's sense of presence hasn't diminished one whit.
