Description :
The MBL 5011 receives full attention to detail, engineering expertise, superior parts selection, and craftsmanship. The MBL 5011 has the high-tech, contemporary look of modern materials and design. The level of attention paid that borders on obsession is found in every inch of the 5011's beautiful, and beautifully crafted chassis. The appearance of the MBL 5011 is a clear and practical streamlined design and only includes those that are technically necessary. The digital display on the front panel indicates the exact volume level and combines attractive design with easy fine-tuning. For smooth integration of a video surround processor, the preamplifier already has a processor/bypass input with fixed amplification fitted as standard. Besides a "fixed output" - uncontrolled output to connect e.g. recording equipment - this preamplifier has two output groups with separate volume and switch-on/off controls equipped with 3 balanced and 3 unbalanced (RCA) outputs. This dream machine fulfills all requirements and enables optimum utilization. The direct connection of the input and output connectors with the printed circuit boards provides extremely short signal paths for purest music reproduction. The input stages are fitted with fantastic 'BIAS' current compensation which enables pure DC coupling. The flexibility of this component will satisfy any kind of audiophile, from the two-channel purist to the multi-room, or home theatre rig. The choice of materials in the MBL 5011 reflects the price point: everything is finished to a high standard, if not luxury class.
The MBL 5011 is very detailed but always natural, with a transparency to the original source, warmth, and gorgeous tone colors that make listening the next best thing to occupying the finest seats in the house. Dynamics, stage width and image separation are superior than most preamplifiers. It plays with no grain, glare or harshness. Frequency response is uncommonly even and powerful in the low-end. The decay, hall sound, fullness and bloom of woodwinds will surprise audiophiles given the solid state origin. It does an incredible job of separation and individualizing each instrument. Trails are long and tends to converge towards center stage, in the process of spreading the instrument's sound over a large area. Individual piano notes are distinct, yet there is a good deal of blended sound. The notes are heard individually, but not in total isolation. Transients are fast and never abrasive. Soft taps on the high-hat cymbal exhibit an interesting decay, displaying lots of low-level variation. The MBL 5011 handles large, complex material well, sounding powerful without a dynamic ceiling and not losing its composure at high volumes. It is linear across its wide bandwidth and has excellent treble integration. The resolution is tempered by a slightly warm, smooth and dark tonal balance, which allows it to avoid being labeled analytical. With such an honest reproduction sound quality and luxurious build quality, audiophiles will have a tough time to come across a better preamplifier for its price range.
