Description :
The Celestion SL6 loudspeakers is the first loudspeaker designed with the aid of the laser, launched at the 1981 Harrogate Audio Fair. In the Celestion laboratories, engineers apply their laser interferometer/computer techniques to a fundamental reappraisal of loudspeaker design. By scanning the vibrating diaphragm with a laser beam, Celestion have been able to derive a continuously moving high-definition image in three dimensions. Countless investigations have enabled the engineers to diminish the sources of error, and almost always led to a simpler, rather than more complex, construction. The Celestion SL6 contains top quality components and revolutionary designs - high performance copper tweeters and fantastic driver, powered by sophisticated crossover that made the SL6 a benchmark audiophile "bookshelf".
First impressions of the Celestion SL6 speakers of a quite unique clarity and top-end smoothness. This has a beneficial effect on practically every type of sound source be it strings, brass and percussion. The voices of BBC announcers are surprisingly free of the spitting and booming effects heard on many loudspeakers. Its naturalness is a recurring characteristic, with the advantage of good articulation and precise stereo imaging. Though the SL6's sensitivity is a little below average, it is of no signifcance if an amplifier rating at the 35 watts per channel or above is available. High sound levels up to reasonable limits are achieved without distortions. This Celestion SL6 compact loudspeaker does not sound small. It easily out performs many other loudspeakers at around the same price regardless of size. Its price, which at first look uncompetitive, suddenly turns out to be very good value indeed. With the right amplifier, the Celestion SL6 can shine and reproduce music with explicit realism.
