The Monitor Audio Silver 5i is one of the best pair of surround speakers that serves music and video equally well. The Silver 5i's are positioned in the middle of the Silver Line-up. They are slim in stature but bold in performance. The fit, finish and appearance are impressive and the elegant speakers' tall and narrow appearance compliments a small to medium sized room nicely or blend well into any room decor with high Wife Acceptance Factor(WAF). The floor standing cabinet allows for outstanding bass extension that seamlessly integrates with the mid range and high frequencies. The result is greater weight and scale in the performance, greater separation of instruments and a true sense of space and timing.

The Monitor Audio Silver 5i possesses tremendous clarity, sound stage and bass slam. While the whitish-silver woofers are crossed over at different frequencies, their synergistic combination produces a decent amount of bass punch for a speaker of its size and price. However, a subwoofer is mandatory if your listening preferences desire bass intense music. Bass extension is not a strong point of these speakers by any means, but they do produce bass that is clean, tight, and free from distortion. The Monitor Audio Silver 5i can absorb sizable amount of power from the amplifier without any sign of stress or break up in the cones of the woofers and still sound clean. The overall tonal balance of these speakers is slightly forward in the highs and somewhat recessed in the upper midrange which in many cases sound pleasantly detailed and appropriate. These speakers are better suited for small rooms as they tend to sound congested when tweaked to produce high SPL(Sound Pressure Levels) in order to fill a large room. Overall, this speaker is designed to delight by bringing attention and detail to the listener's music.
