Description :
The quality control of Edgar(now known as Canor) products has always been stringent to manufacture high quality and reliable products, including the Edgar SH-1. The front panel is made of natural cherry wood with lacquer surface treatment. It also has a huge, back-lighted blue logo indicating device activity, 6.3mm headphone jack, power switch and a volume knob(both wood). The case is 1.5mm thick sheet steel painted in black. The input connectors are gold-plated RCA phono plugs and the by-pass output is equipped with the same connectors. The tube headphone amplifier is powered from an external adapter and significantly increases the S/N ratio which is considered one of the most important qualities in an amplifier. It can drive dynamic headphones of 30 ohms to 300 ohms. The power supply contains low-noise voltage regulators LM317 and capacitance multiplier for improving of filtration. Heating current for triodes is regulated and well filtrated.
The Edgar SH-1 plays with a full, transparent, organic sound with perfectly accentuated sound at the right moments. The smooth transition between the bottom and mid range brings a sense of fullness. The soundstage is focused and deep. Instruments sound clear, coherent, accurate. The amplifier carves out subtle sounds perfectly and separates them from the main signal, but they are never lost along the sound track. The Edgar SH-1 copes with this task perfectly and creates the feeling of several transmitters around the head.
