The Naim Audio NAP300 is an outstanding addition to Naim's array of finest power amplifiers. It has a matching NAP300PS heavyweight power supply that can handle large amounts of current so the combo never gets thrown out of balance by dynamic transients. It also shares some similarities with the flagship NAP500, which had its components and technologies perfected with many years of research. The performance level, along with the classy look of NAP500 have been applied to the mighty NAP300. The Naim NAP300 uses the same 007 transistors that were custom-designed for the high caliber flagship NAP500. These outstanding components each provide up to 80 Amps and 350 Watts, removing the need to use parallel pairs of transistors that always reduce sound quality. Additional 007 transistors are used in the fully regulated power supply, ensuring the very best performance. Naim's use of a single XLR connect per channel means that conventional balanced leads can work from XLR equipped preamplifiers. It have anti-vibration, resonance-controlling feet to protect the sensitive internal components from resonance and microphonic vibration. There is a adjustable speed, noiseless cooling fan that is mounted on a large internal heat sink providing long-term stability. The NAP300's ability to swing a massive 750VA on transients and is able to handle a 2-Ohm load for long periods without overheating.
The Naim Audio NAP300 sounds 'three dimensional' in the way it presents the music. It makes deeper and tighter bass, greater detail and vocals so much more evident. The subtleties of the human voice are no longer masked. Instruments can be heard clearly with drums and bass in particular taking on a new levels of natural sounds. The natural rightness to the sound puts out huge quantities of detail, all are placed firmly within the organic whole. The NAP300 also possess rhythm in larger quantities, but it has the ability to characterize the nature of the attack and decay of notes and make the dynamic level apparent. This has an effect of providing a discord occasionally between the nominally un-tuned bass drum and the orchestral basses or organ. This amplifier manages all the dynamics of the symphony orchestra, pianoforte, and voices in recordings effortlessly. The balance of the NAP300 with the micro-dynamics of the attack, expressive color, and degree of legato or staccato of the playing give away aural clues to the emotional thrust of the player's intentions. The side effect that of usually difficult recordings emerge as vibrant and newly minted. The projected, sung voice is virile and the strength of purpose of the chorus or choir is beautifully portrayed. The NAP300 is a subtle power amplifier and has a remarkable ability to unravel and make sense of complex passages of music. Listening to the Naim Audio NAP300 will become very much a three-dimensional experience and listeners will not experience a trace of fatigue even after extended listening periods. It matches easily with loudspeakers to deliver enormous power without sacrificing any speed or agility to provide astonishing levels of detail, ambient information and musicality.
