The Musical Fidelity X-Can V2 is a tube headphone amplifier that utilises two ECC88 vacuum tubes, which are equivalent to 6DJ8 glowing glass bottles. They can stay electrically lit for several years even when the X-Can is powered up 24 hours a day. Even when run continually, the X-Can V2 never feels warm to the touch. Its anodized black ribbed chassis acts as a heat sink to keep it from getting too hot. The amplifier sits on two rods, equipped with rubber inserts that act as both vibration control devices and non-skid rails.
The Musical Fidelity X-Can V2 boasts a completely new circuit design that results in further developing the highly rated Nu-Vista preamp. Musical Fidelity claims the result is a fuller, more detailed sound and the V2 is able to drive the most difficult headphone load with ease. The new X-Can V2 delivers. What strikes is a greater clarity and resolution on offer compared with the original design, along with the way the presentation loses much of the unwanted 'in-head' feel.
