Description :
Developed as the natural consequence of Rogers' unique relationship with the BBC, the Rogers AB1 is a passive sub-bass system designed specifically to complement the LS3/5a speakers 11 ohm and 15 ohm versions. The AB1 enhances the low frequency performance and sensitivity whilst easing the overall system impedance, thereby presenting an easier load to the driving amplifier. The subwoofer removes the 70Hz bump of the LS3/5a and replaces it with a much smoother extension down to below 50Hz so that the double-bass players and timpani emerges comparatively unclouded. Each system is configured to act also as a stand for the LS3/5a, becoming a true stereo sub-bass unit. Connection is into the Rogers AB1 and through a high pass filter set at 120Hz, effectively limiting and optimising the cone excursion of the LS3/5a, the resultant combination delivering a coherent musical performance of exemplary breadth and accuracy. Immediately after its launch, the Rogers AB1 was awarded the prestigious '95 Las Vegas WCES Audio Exhibition Innovations Award.
