The Amphion Creon is build up on the same solid technical foundation as xenon, which has already been rated as one of worlds best and most attractive loudspeakers. Even if sold at a much lower pricepoint, the Creon has some of same ingenious elements like the Xenon, which have made Xenon so successful. Room reflections are minimized due to U/U/D-enclosure system, which creates a cardioid diffusion pattern. Despite all the impressive technical data, the Amphion Creon’s true beauty lies in its captivating sound, which is nicely complemented by its immaculate looks. Though tasteful and clean, the speakers are far from understated - their sheer physical and their unusual styling make them a focal point of virtually any room. As bass frequencies are theoretically not highly directional due to their relatively long wavelengths, orientation of bass drivers is widely believed to be non-critical. However, the Amphions contest this concept. Placing the speakers in close lateral proximity to anything solid will seriously degrade the quality of sound reproduction, turning the otherwise well-defined low end into muddy bass mush. With the right room placement, for the serious and discerning audiophile looking for extremely accurate, well-balanced speakers with excellent imaging and a striking visual presence, these fantastic speakers are hard to beat.
