The Acoustic Research 302T is the tower version of the AR302. They use the same speaker drivers and its crossover is the same as the original flagship AR-303 crossover. Utilizing Acoustic Research's True Acoustic Suspension Technology and Exposed Dome Driver Technology, these floorstanding models reproduce wide dynamic swings of real-world music and video with tonal accuracy and flat frequency response. The 302T are slimmer and taller than the 302, which requires lesser floor space for increased placement flexibility, and their Matched Timbre Design ensures harmonious integration with AR bookshelf models for seamless stunning home theater sound. Housing an exposed soft dome tweeter and dome midrange which utilizes the Filtered Soft Dome Technology, the speaker delivers silky highs and smooth range while its acoustic suspension long-throw woofer fills in bottom octaves with powerful, extended bass. The units have acoustic suspension, which offers the advantage of good transient response, slow roll-off, and easy interface with subwoofers.
The Acoustic Research 302T speakers have dry but unusually truthful accuracy with voices and instruments and in the midrange. Bass extends down to about 32Hz and provides a solid foundation for any genre of music. It is not quite as fast as more modern designs, but careful positioning keeps these speakers punchy and rhythmic. Musically these are very satisfying transducers, which are naturally sweet and involving sounding and faithfully recreate music. The transparent mid-band gives this speaker its musical insight and subtlety. It sounds a little restrained in the treble so the speakers would be an ideal candidate to partner with a fast and bright sounding solid state amplifier. The Acoustic Research 302T represents an excellent value, offering topflight performance at a most affordable price in a compact package.
