Given the billions of vinyl records in circulation, many containing magical performances that might never appear on any other medium, it makes sense to cherish them and exploit their potential. To enable customers enjoy their record collections fully, Naim Audio has developed the Naim uni-pivot tone-arm, Armageddon power supply and SuperLine and Stageline phono stages. Naim believe that each product is unique in its ability to maximise the potential of vinyl replay, bringing forth the characteristic musicality and emotional depth that the medium offers.
The Naim Audio Stageline is a separate phono stage, available in either moving coil or moving magnet versions, designed to optimise sound quality from a wide range of cartridges. The Stageline is available in four different versions: the 'S' for low output moving coil cartridges, the 'K' for low output moving coil cartridges requiring a higher impedance load, the 'E' for medium output moving coil cartridges, and the 'N' for high output moving coil and moving magnet cartridges. The Naim Stageline phono stage can be powered either from a special socket on the rear of the NAIT 5 or by a separate supply such as the Flat-Cap 2 for even better performance. The Naim i-SUPPLY can also be used to deliver very cost effective 24V power to the Naim Stageline.
What makes the Naim Audio Stageline really good is how well it fills a song with life. Its ability to image or recreate the soundstage is really not its strength, but its goal is transparency. The result is that rather than focusing on the texture and timbre of instruments, the Stageline prefers to concentrate on all-round resolution. It's all about speed and attack, but what is essentially a 'clarity without compromise' approach that some listeners find a little too upfront with traditionalsounding Naim kit, makes a perfect foil for the richness vinyl has to offer. Naim fans of course will love it, but this unit has an appeal that extends beyond devotees.
