The Acoustic Energy Aelite 3 speakers are the flagship of the Aelite range and utilises high quality high frequency unit, complimented by a 110mm midrange unit and two powerful 125mm bass units. The Aelite Series are AE's affordable high-end audio range, utilising modern design techniques in drive unit technology and cabinet enclosure construction. The Aelite 3 speakers have curved sides which are both fashionable at the moment and highly functional, helping disperse internal reflections and standing waves, as well as stiffening the 15mm enclosure sides. There are additional internal horizontal bracing too. Following with AE tradition, the Aelite 3 speakers are fitted with lightweight high-efficiency alloy cones housed in die-cast aluminium chassis to provide a fast, tight bass response with optimum detail and clarity.

The Acoustic Energy Aelite 3 are well balanced speakers and punchy in the Acoustic Energy tradition. Most significantly, perhaps, is the exceptionally fine neutrality and attendant low level of coloration. When the speakers are sited well clear of walls, the sound has plenty of weight. It may possibly a little too much for smaller rooms but the option to block any combination of the three ports gives great flexibility. These features allows to customise the level of bass to the user's room. While the bass end is certainly weighty, it's also impressively smooth and even. Stereo focus is another major strength, and any enclosure coloration is very well controlled, ensuring fine transparency, too. However, while the top end is smooth and well ordered, it lacks some incisiveness, and this clouds transient fine details. Speech is particularly clean, open and natural, showing remarkable similarly to a BBC LS3/5a monitor, a hard benchmark to beat. Apart from the slight loss of definition at high frequencies, this is an outstanding loudspeaker at the price.

Overall, the design of the Acoustic Energy Aelite 3 results in a floor standing loudspeaker of unequalled presentation with a range of abilities from the most detailed violin to the largest movie explosion. They are the most popular choice in the Aelite range. If the buyer wants a big sound for sensible money, don’t hesitate to audition the Aelite Threes.
