The ProAc Studio 200 establishes a new benchmark in loudspeaker design by combining cutting edge components and technology with innovative cabinet and crossover design. The speakers are supported by plinth and spikes and project their sound waves through acoustically transparent crimplene grills. Two dedicated bass/midrange drivers working together with a fabric dome provide seamless coverage of the frequency spectrum. The dome is fashioned from a light silk-like material and exhibits outstanding transient capabilities. The high linearity of the motor system guarantees exceptionally low distortion. A new ferrofluid coil assembly provides the ProAc Studio 200 with optimum damping and power handling, whilst a special rear chamber loading enhances frequency response. Designed for the Studio 200, the new split crossover uses only the finest materials including the oxygen-free copper wire. Superpower inductors and resistors are mounted on a crossover board, bolted to rhodium terminals and provide an efficient signal path.
The ProAc Studio 200 delivers exceptional finesse and transparency, characterised by a superbly natural and uncoloured sound. By using results of long experimentation in combining walls of varying densities and thicknesses, and a new damping technique, the cabinets are almost non-resonant, contributing to the neutrality of the overall sound. The careful positioning of the drive units affords a spacious soundstage with pinpoint and stunning imagery. The new single equalised reflex port adds a new dimension in bass refinement, with extended and controlled bass having superb power handling and reliability while maintaining a crisp attacking quality. With a split crossover enabling both bi-wiring and bi-amplification, the ProAc Studio 200 will make listening music a real joy.
