The Classe Audio CDP.3 Omega series cd player is a high quality unit utilizing the latest innovations in digital audio reproduction to deliver exceptional sound quality. It aims to extract the maximum musical performance by having the best possible components and creating an enclosure of sleek, minimal design, the emphasis is on high quality and simplicity. The thick gauge metal chassis resists vibration through solid construction and proper isolation from sources of vibration. The main power is provided by a custom high current toroidal transformer. The power supplies are oversized to assure that regardless how much current is drawn, the circuitry will remain unaffected by any fluctuations. The disk transport employs a newly-developed linear tracking laser pickup which is fast, quiet, and long lasting. Its outstanding construction using highly efficient, long life motors assures excellent long-term reliability. It does not require periodic calibration, and long-term alignment will always be right on specification. The Classe Audio CDP.3 minimizes jitter by using a crystal oscillator to generate the digital output, and the final jitter measured at the output can barely be detected.
The custom solid metal remote features an exceptionally wide transmission angle to the IR receiver on the Classe Audio CDP.3 cd player, and is engineered to last an extremely long time. The player features a HDCD decoder that functions as a 8X oversampling filter if the input data is not encoded in HDCD format. The digital information is oversampled by the HDCD decoder to a rate that is 8 times higher than the original sampling frequency. By having a high oversampling rate, it allows the analog filter following the DAC to have far fewer poles than otherwise required. Thus reducing the errors associated with “brick wall” analog filters, and minimizing the number of components in the signal path. The Classe Audio CDP.3 is insensitive to noisy components in a system, and not cause harmful interference to other components. Technical features aside, the sound is natural, warm, superbly detailed and non-fatiguing. The highs are open and smooth and the lows are solid, tight and deep. The sound stage is wide and deep with excellent placement. Stringed and acoustical instruments are very life-like. There is much weight and depth on symphonic recordings as well as opera. Rock and roll have excellent lower octave punch without making the highs extreme (as rock recordings can be). Jazz is presented with a very real and believable sound stage and the vocals feels real. Overall, the Classe Audio CDP.3 is a very clean sounding player and a pleasure to listen to.
