Description :
The Klipsch Forte like most horn speakers sound upfront in the face. The speakers have a revealing sound, nice wide hall-like soundstage and are great for playing loud. The Forte does everything right for daylight listening. They are suitable for playing all kinds of music especially those of live performance recordings where you can really feel the energy, kick and excitment in them. However, it can be fatiguing over long periods of listening. The Klipsch Forte may be best matched with tube amplifiers. These Forte speakers are something that require planning for the whole hifi system and room to make it perform well. If the owner randomly pick up a set of components, position them like regular box coned speakers, and expect them to perform, the result is likely to sound horrible. In order for the Forte horn speakers to sound good, it takes quite abit of effort. The Klipsch Forte speakers are designed to be placed closer to the corners for best performance. A caution is to watch for the toe-in of the speakers. Most people angle their speakers to the direction where the drivers face them. It is a bad idea as the harshness that is always waiting around for the unwary comes right out. The off-axis sound is much smoother and more pleasant to listen to. Because horn speakers are highly efficient, it is much easier to use the drivers out of their normal operating range without causing over-excursion problems. In most 2 way horn speaker designs, most horn tweeters can work down to around 2Khz, and keep the frequency response fairly flat. Unfortunately, this results in a less than pleasant off-axis response at higher frequencies. Therefore Klipsch introduced a midrange horn to which what really makes the Klipsch Forte sound great. There is a totally effortless feeling to vocals that comes from a driver operating nowhere near its limits in either frequency response or output level. And the foundation that midrange is working on is very solid. The bass is tight down to 30hz if the associated electronics keep up. There is little need for a subwoofer.
