The Leema Acoustic Pulse 2 was designed to deliver a startling level of performance to a whole new audience. The Leema Acousitc range received massive critical acclaim, won many prestigious awards right across the globe, and helped establish Leema Acoustics as an audio manufacturer of the very highest quality. By careful slimming and honing of the Tucana design, and by adding several new features Leema have produced a new reference amplifier in its price band. The Pulse is easily capable of driving today's audiophile speakers with a vice-like grip and precise control. Among Hi-Fi specifics, the Pulse 2 was greatly liked for its bass, which was variously described as deep, detailed and well defined. On orchestra music, the listeners picked up on some excellent detail in the lower strings of the orchestra, as well as a very well-scaled crescendo to a powerful climax. Among other characteristics, this seems to be a very honest amp that does little to conceal the limitations of imperfect recordings. It seemed, indeed, that Leema had struck a pretty good balance between warts-and-all and general musical life and energy with this amplifer. The main warning note we would sound is about voices, which sometimes seem just a shade dry and less clear, but otherwise this is an amplifier with a fine combination analysis and just enough character to keep things interesting.
